Gatesville Real Estate and Community News

"GIVE THANKS BY GIVING PIE" It was great just being able to take a break from the hustle and to show how thankful we are for our clients. We are truly blessed by our clients and the lasting friendships we build in our business. We appreciate all of you who participated. We loved seeing everyone. Congratulations to Monica Veazey and Linda Mathews, the winners in the Christmas wreaths drawing!
We hope everyone is blessed by friends and family during this Thanksgiving holiday. Try and be a blessing to someone who may not have family or friends to gather and feast with. The Pilgrims did Thanksgiving right by giving thanks to God for everything!
                                                 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

We are blessed to live in Coryell County. Gatesville and the surrounding communities are blessed with people who serve others. Here are a couple of examples of how our county come together.

I am so proud of the way we come together to honor our Veterans with a program sponsored by the Student Council at GHS. It is always an awesome salute to those who serve, have served and sacrificed for our freedom. I like the way that all of the school students are able to attend (weather permitting) and experience honoring our Armed Forces. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELP PUT THIS PROGRAM TOGETHER.

We should also be proud of our community for supporting our Care Center through Food for Families. The Care Center provides food for those in need year round and its success is due to the generosity of businesses, organizations, schools, families and citizens. I am anxious to see if last year's total of 410,365 lbs. is surpassed. It is a blessing to be able to bless others! THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO VOLUNTEER AT CARE CENTER. IT CANNOT HAPPEN WITHOUT YOU.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend!

IT IS BOOZAAR TIME IN GATESVILLE! Is your costume ready to go? If not, you still have time.  It is almost Halloween & Gatesville's annual Boozaar is tomorrow, Saturday, October 27 downtown on the Square from 6-8 pm. CANDY, CANDY, & MORE CANDY. The Treat Stops are businesses on the square and and on the Boozaar Route along Main St. & around downtown that provide candy and treats for the kids. Other businesses set up as a booth provided candy or free activities.
FOOD VENDORS AND GAME BOOTHS set up around the Courthouse Square provide a variety of activities for your enjoyment.
OH AND DO NOT FORGET YOUR COSTUME! There will be a costume contest! This is really something to see. People get really creative and you will probably see a costume you have never seen!
SQUARE. Raby Park, the empty lot next to the City Pool, and along the side streets are a few possibilities.

For the third year now, the school year has begun without me as a teacher. During my 30 year teaching career, I never thought that I would begin a new career. However, when the opportunity to spend more time with my daughter by working with her here at Kristi's Properties came up, I decided to try something new.
Even though it was hard for me to leave my comfort zone, I am happy with my decision to work in real estate. As of July 31, 2018 I am a licensed Real Estate Sales Agent, a Texas Realtor. Wow! I guess you can teach an older teacher new tricks. I am truly blessed, humbled and thankful for everything God has done in my life and the opportunities He has provided.
Even though my new beginning was significant, we have opportunities for new beginnings each day in every decision we make. So here's to new beginnings for everyone!! Have a blessed September!

The hustle and bustle of getting ready for the start of school is here. We hope your families have had a chance to have some fun this summer. What a HOT ONE it has been, but we are thankful for the cooler temps and the rain the last few days.

You can save some money this TAX FREE weekend shopping for clothing, shoes & school supplies. School shopping is usually exciting for the students, but for parents maybe not so much because of the expense. Hopefully you can take advantage of shopping tax free.

Faculty and staff of our area schools are gearing up for the 2018-2019 year. Many have been working for weeks before the official start date to get classrooms & curriculum ready. As a retired teacher, I appreciate all the extra personal time spent to make school experience positive for the students.

"IT TAKES A VILLAGE" is a popular saying around schools. All employees should be appreciated for their part in the lives of students every day. THANK YOU! Our team will be at the Chamber's "Welcome Back" for School Employees on Wednesday, August 15. Stop by our table to say hi!

Have a blessed weekend!

The State Water Plan depends on water conservation. Saving our water is something we all can do to ensure that Texas has enough water, now and in the future. Our state has recovered from severe drought in recent years, but we all need to do our part to conserve water for future growth. We can do simple things in and around our homes to help. The following tips came from
    • Water or irrigate your yard efficiently to save water and maintain a healthy landscape.
    • Collecting rainwater for landscape use is great for your plants and can save you water and money.
    • Save water by installing water efficient shower heads, toilets, faucets, and faucet aerators.
    • For big savings, fix household leaks.
    • Use less water every day with a few simple ideas such as turning the water off during hand washing and tooth brushing.
    • Invest in an ENERGY STAR-qualified washing machine, which typically uses about 45% less water and 25% less energy per load.
    • Invest in an ENERGY STAR-qualified dishwasher, which typically uses about 30% less water.
You can find more tips and interesting information on-line. Here are a few sites that I found.

I hope you all can find a way to help conserve water this 100 degree Summer, even though it does not officially start until June 21st. Stay cool at the ball parks with your cooling towels or just a cool bandana.
Kristi's Properties would like to congratulate all of our ball players for a great season and we wish them good luck during the play-offs.
    Have a blessed week!
